Solaris visually represents the lifecycle of a star using large scale kinetic sculpture, with 4D mapped LED technology and a bespoke soundtrack. Spanning the Science Art category this installation works both as a stand-alone visual piece of art and at the same time incorporates all elements of STEAM, creating a unique experience for all audiences.
Solaris is a giant motorised expandable sphere made from laser cut acrylic and 3D printed parts. The structure has thousands of individually mappable LEDS incorporated within it, so as it expands and collapses on itself it is accompanied by mesmerising visual images that the movement of the LEDs create.
